After much negotiation, the contract for the 2012 partnership with MillerCoors is signed! Unlike last year, in which relatively small amounts of money were divided across every NGFFL member city, this year, MillerCoors chose to concentrate the resources in select markets and around select events to maximize its exposure.
Importantly, MillerCoors has upped their investment in our community from $25k to $30k, a 20% increase over last year!
Thus, the $30K will be divided across the three largest national tournaments – Gay Bowl, Pride Bowl in Chicago, and Florida Sunshine Cup. The remainder is going to the leagues in Los Angeles, San Diego, and San Francisco Bay. And a small amount is set aside to support the formation of a league in Dallas / Fort Worth, another market specifically chosen by MillerCoors. The NGFFL is facilitating the investment of those DFW-specific dollars.
The NGFFL Board hopes this experience sets the stage for uncovering more partnerships that can be shared with more local leagues and events. The NGFFL thanks MillerCoors for its partnership and commitment to our community!
Starting today, the NGFFL Board will send out a monthly newsletter to inform membership on everything that’s going on with the Board, the Gay Bowl, outreach and other events. The newsletter will be distributed via Facebook, and also emailed to city reps. If you or any of your members or friends want to receive the newsletter, join our Facebook page:
The Boston gay football league put together a fun video of league members dancing to Jai Ho in hopes of getting the attention of Ellen Degeneres. Mission accomplished. Ellen’s show posted it on her site today. Check out the video below.
It’s a great idea that got the league some priceless publicity. If you’ve got other out-of-the-box ideas for publicity, please share them here!
