Board announces process for election of commissioner at Gay Bowl 0

Posted on July 23, 2012 by Shane Kinkennon

It’s commissioner-election time. The NGFFL commissioner, the organization’s top official, is to be elected every even-numbered year at Gay Bowl, according to the organization’s Bylaws. (Then later this fall, two more of the total seven elected Board seats will be voted on.) The Board has just distributed to City Leaders the process that the commissioner election will follow this year. Prospective candidates will be able to declare their candidacy beginning this Friday, July 27 (via a Survey Monkey form that will be published on Friday). Candidate declarations are due August 17.

Is it you? The NGFFL is seeking leaders who are committed to taking our great sport to more LGBT people in more places. Check it out.

Dramatically revised Bylaws align organization with five-year vision 0

Posted on December 08, 2011 by Shane Kinkennon

The NGFFL has an all new set of Bylaws to govern the organization’s operations. You can find them here. For comparison’s sake, here is the now retired version. What began as a modest endeavor by the Board to rid the Bylaws of longstanding typos and pockets of vague language evolved into a sweeping effort to bring the document in line with the organization’s five-year vision affirmed by the Board early in 2011.

The document was approved 16-3 by member cities the week of November 28. Amendment to the Bylaws requires a two-thirds majority vote. Read the rest of this entry →

Check out the amazing group of nominees to fill the four slots that are coming open on the NGFFL Board of Directors. The nominees are listed here, complete with their accompanying descriptions of why they pursuing NGFFL leadership. The nominees are:

– Javier Cavero (SoFL)

– Phillip Clawson (Boston)

– Chris Cormier (DC)

– Scott Dinkins (Philly >> NY)

– Peter Goulet (Boston)

– Alexander Jones (Michigan)

Elections will be held online via Survey Monkey the week of Nov. 28.  Each City Leader will be asked to cast votes for four individuals. The top four vote getters will win. Then the new Board, once it takes office, will decide who fills what role.

Continuing on the Board for the second half of their two-year terms are Jared Garduno (Phoenix), Shane Kinkennon (Denver), and Thurman Williams (Atlanta >> DC).

The Board asks that only the designated City Leader for each NGFFL member city communicate with these nominees, just to keep the nominees from being overwhelmed. If you have a question you’d like asked of one or all of the nominees, please communicate with your City Leader so they may pass that question along if they so choose.

Let’s all be grateful that so many quality people are willing to raise their hand to give back in the form of moving the NGFFL forward.
