According to initial results of the recent Gay Bowl player survey, 64% of respondents said either the communication they receive from the NGFFL is not enough, or they don’t receive communication at all. Ninety-two percent said they’d like to receive an e-newsletter from the NGFFL.
So today, the NGFFL launched The 2-Minute Drill, the league’s new monthly e-newsletter. Click here to read this month’s issue. We hope it helps increase understanding of the NGFFL and engages more of us in advancing our great sport in the LGBT community.
If you want to receive The 2-Minute Drill but did not, click here to sign up to receive it in the future.
Many thanks to NGFFL board member Molly Lenore for driving this important project.

Here are a few key dates that NGFFL local contacts should have on your calendars:
- March 9: Submit suggestions for rules of play. Want to make suggestions for a change to the NGFFL rulebook? If so, send those by email to NGFFL rules director Shawn Albritton (Chicago) at shawnalbritton@yahoo.com. Deadline is March 9. Questions? Contact Shawn as well. A vote will take place on proposed changes in April, precise date TBD.
- March 4. Throw your name in the hat to host Gay Bowl 2012. Is your city interested in playing host to next year’s Gay Bowl? If so, deadline for bid proposals is March 4. Send proposals to Gay Bowl Liaison Thurman Williams (Atlanta) at tkwvip2u2005@yahoo.com.

I’m setting aside official NGFFL communication for a couple of takeaways from this past weekend’s Duel in the Desert, an NGFFL-supported one-day mini-tournament in Palm Springs, California.
Duel in the Desert was started a couple of years ago by leaders of some of the top-performing NGFFL teams to be a casual counterpoint to the hard-charging Gay Bowl. It features some of the best players from the L.A. Motion, San Deigo Bolts / Toros, and the Phoenix Hellraisers, all among top Gay Bowl contenders, and players from their respective back-home leagues. Teams are formed anonymously combining players from various cities. Games are lighthearted. No officials are in sight. Beer is everywhere you look.
